Where can you check what you are billed?

German calibration law requires a charging session to be billed verifiably. Whether that actually works at a given station depends on something the operator files themselves: the public key of the metering capsule. Of 209,136 charge points in the register, 58,501 are checkable (28.0 %). For another 3,169 there is something in the key field, but it is not a key.

Filed, but unusable

The worse case: there is something in the key field – a serial number, a placeholder, truncated characters. On paper the installation looks checkable and is not. What exactly is filed there is shown on the page of the individual charging station.

From 100 charge points upwards (lower table: from 50) – with threecharge points any ratio would be noise. A missing key is not an accusation: older installations were not covered by the filing duty in this form, and not filing does not mean billing wrongly. The figure only says what can be verified.

Billing accuracy

From 1 invoice checks on this site covering 1 signed charging records across 1 operators. What is checked is whether the amount billed matches what the meter signed – not whether the price is reasonable.

No operator has reached 20 checks yet. Until then nobody is named here: turning three checks, one of which deviated, into a percentage would be an accusation with a decimal place.

From 20 checks per operator, calculated over the last 365 days. A deviation is no proof of intent – it may stem from the tariff someone entered, from a fee the check does not know about, or from an error on either side. What is listed here is a reason to recalculate, not a result.

Only the verdict is stored: operator, number of records and the size of the deviation. Neither the invoice nor the amounts, the charge point identifier or anything about the person checking is kept. There is also a salted one-way value over the records checked – it cannot be reversed and serves only to keep the same invoice from counting towards the rate more than once.
