Under German calibration law every charging bill must be verifiable. That takes the public key of the meter, which the operator files with the Bundesnetzagentur's charging point register. We checked every filed key cryptographically. Result: of 211,253 charge points, 60,419 can be verified on the record – 28.6 %. As of 30 Sep 2026.

All operators with at least 1,000 charge points, by size. Smaller operators and details on each are in the CSV file and on the operator pages.
The worse case: there is something in the key field – a serial number, a placeholder, truncated characters. On paper the installation looks checkable and is not. What exactly is filed there is shown on the page of the individual charging station.

A charger that complies with calibration law signs every reading with a private key that never leaves the meter. With the matching public key anyone can check whether the figure on the bill was really measured – for instance with the transparency software or with our invoice check.
The operator files the public key with the register. We distinguish three cases:
A missing key in the register does not mean wrong billing. Many chargers show the key on the housing or in the app, and some operators simply do not file it. The figure only says whether a bill can be checked against the publicly filed data.
